1. Picking The Right Time

Pick a time of year to schedule your photography session when you enjoy not only the seasonal weather norms but the time of sunset.

If you have an outdoor session, your photographer will plan your session during the best lighting, typically at sunset.  It is important to plan a session when you are comfortable with that time, especially if you have family photos with small children.

Don’t like the timing of sunset photos?  See if your photographer will do an indoor session! I know for my newborn and milestone sessions, parents can’t always plan the time of year for their session.  So if it is difficult to time or weather for children, I have plenty of alternative options, including indoor sessions!

2. Be open to styling

Ask your photographer for help to decide on the color scheme and style that best suits your session’s location and the photographer’s editing style.

I had no idea how big of a difference styling made before becoming a photographer. Still, everything from the color, type of fabric pattern, and the way it coordinates the location and the rest of your family will play a huge part in creating the style of photos you fell in love with on your photographer’s page!  I know styling can be stressful. Finding a photographer who will take all of that homework off your plate will help you plan the best photography session for your family.  As a Rolla MO Photographer, I help all of my clients one on one find the perfect outfits for their families.

3. Find the perfect location that fits your family’s story

Whether your session is in the comfort of your own home or a beautiful outdoor location in the area, finding the perfect place that fits your family’s personality will create special memories for your session! As a Rolla MOm photographer, I help all of my clients find the best location for their session that fits their personality and style.

4. Bring relaxation and a fun attitude to your session

As a mom, I know how stressful sessions can be no matter if you are having a maternity session for yourself, a family center newborn session, a milestone or family session, or helping your child with senior graduation photos. They can add a lot of pressure to your session!  But finding a photographer who will help with all the details so you can bring a relaxing and fun attitude to your session will help your session have gorgeous photos and an adventure and special memories for you and your family.

In conclusion, taking the time to plan the small details of your photography session with your photographer will help ensure that you capture the best photos possible. By following these tips, you can create beautiful and lasting memories with your loved ones.
