Fall is one of my favorite seasons in Springfield. The weather finally cools down, the leaves begin to change, and my kids suddenly want to visit every pumpkin patch, corn maze, and apple orchard before the season disappears.

Visiting a pumpkin patch is always one of the highlights of fall for my kids. There is something about walking through rows of pumpkins and trying to find the perfect one, even though every child somehow decides they need the biggest pumpkin they cannot possibly carry.
Many local pumpkin patches offer much more than pumpkins. Depending on where you go, you may find hayrides, corn mazes, farm animals, playgrounds, seasonal food, and fall photo areas. County Line Farm offers U-pick pumpkins and seasonal attractions in Springfield. Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park also hosts pumpkin-patch and harvest activities during the fall.
Not sure when to go for the best pumpkins? Go in early October for the biggest selection. Go in late October for deals, but the pickings will be slimmer. Weekday mornings are the least crowded.

Our family loves choosing a local trail, bringing snacks, and letting the kids collect memories along the way. 4. Visit Hotel of Terror and Dungeons of Doom
Would it even feel like Halloween without at least one activity that makes you question why you voluntarily paid someone to scare you? Hotel of Terror has operated in Springfield since 1978. The attraction now uses all four floors of the building and includes its well-known 96-foot exit slide.
The company operates two separate Springfield haunted houses: Hotel of Terror and Dungeons of Doom. Visitors may attend one attraction or purchase a combination ticket for both.
