4 Best Places To Stay On Your Family Vacation In Branson MO:
1. Big Cedar Lodge
Best for: A scenic family vacation, multigenerational trip, or special celebration
Big Cedar Lodge is located just south of Branson in Ridgedale, Missouri. It overlooks Table Rock Lake and combines an upscale resort experience with the natural beauty of the Ozarks.
Families can choose from lodge rooms, cottages, cabins, and larger private accommodations. The resort also has restaurants, two marinas, six golf courses, a spa, and fishing. There are outdoor activities too, plus the 50,000-square-foot Fun Mountain activity center.
Big Cedar is probably the best fit on this list when the setting is as important as the activities. You can spend time on the lake, explore the resort, play mini golf, or swim. Simply enjoy the Ozark views without rushing back into town.
It also works well for extended-family vacations and reunions. There are accommodations for different group sizes, plus activities grandparents, parents, teenagers, and younger kids can all enjoy. Big Cedar specifically promotes the property for family reunions and group gatherings.
This would be my pick if you want the vacation to feel special. It is so much more than just a hotel room near the Branson attractions.
2. Grand Country Resort
Best for: Families with kids who want nonstop activities
Grand Country Resort is my kids’ favorite year-round option and voted one of the best waterparks in Branson, MO.
I will be honest: the hotel rooms are not the main reason we stay here. We stay because the kids can swim, play, eat, and find something new to do without us constantly driving across Branson.
Admission to Splash Country Indoor and Outdoor Waterpark is included with every hotel stay. The climate-controlled indoor waterpark has 12 water attractions. There is a lazy river, water slides, activity pools, and a large interactive treehouse with a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket. Outdoor water attractions are available seasonally.
The resort also offers restaurants, indoor go-karts, mini golf, an arcade, live shows, shopping, and family vacation packages. Some hotel rooms even include bunk beds for the kids.
When my children were smaller, I especially appreciated having water areas where they could play without trying to keep up with the older kids. Now that they are different ages, there is still enough variety to keep everyone entertained.
Grand Country is a great choice when your goal is to keep the kids busy and make the vacation as easy as possible. You could spend a large part of the trip at the resort without hearing, “What are we doing next?” every 15 minutes.
3. Watermill Cove Resort
Best for: Extended families, reunions, and large groups
WaterMill Cove may be the strongest option on this list for a large extended-family trip.
The lakefront resort offers four-, five-, six-, seven-, eight-, and 11-bedroom villas and lodges. It also has an Old Mill House and a smaller cabin. Many of the larger accommodations include full kitchens, fireplaces, screened porches, game areas, pool tables, and enough shared space for families to spend time together.
That setup makes much more sense for a reunion than asking everyone to stay in separate hotel rooms. Grandparents can have their own room and cousins can stay together. The entire family can gather for breakfast, games, and evenings at the house.
The resort’s complimentary amenities include a large pool area, lazy river, waterslide, and hot tubs. There is also a playground and treehouse, mini golf, and an arcade. You will also find basketball, pickleball, sand volleyball, fire pits, and other outdoor games.
Families can also use kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, paddleboats, fishing poles, and other lake amenities. WaterMill Cove has a private boat ramp, covered docks, boat slips, and boat rentals available on-site.
This would be one of my top recommendations for grandparents bringing all of their adult children and grandchildren together. Everyone can stay on the same property. There is enough space and plenty to do. No one has to spend the entire trip on top of one another.
The lake, trees, and Ozark scenery make it an especially meaningful setting for extended-family photos. It already feels connected to the vacation itself.
4. Still Waters Resort
Best for: A Table Rock Lake vacation near Silver Dollar City
Still Waters Resort sits on Table Rock Lake in the Indian Point area, just a few minutes from Silver Dollar City.
The resort offers several lodging styles, including studios, one- to four-bedroom condos, private lake houses, cabins, and larger group accommodations. Many condos have kitchens, living areas, laundry, and private patios or balconies. That can make a longer family stay much easier than using a standard hotel room.
Families have access to three outdoor pools, waterslides, hot tubs, and mini golf. There is also an arcade, sports areas, on-site dining, daily activities, and a full-service marina. The resort also provides complimentary lake toys such as kayaks, paddleboards, aqua cycles, inner tubes, and cane fishing poles.
Still Waters also offers a complimentary shuttle to Silver Dollar City. That can be a major benefit during a busy family trip because you can avoid dealing with park traffic and parking.
This resort gives families a nice mix of both sides of Branson. You can spend one day riding rides at Silver Dollar City and the next swimming, boating, or relaxing by Table Rock Lake.
The private lake houses and cabins also make Still Waters worth considering for multigenerational vacations. Some of its larger homes are designed specifically for groups and extended families.
